CLOSING DATE: 28 FEBRUARY 2017
The Pacific Financial Inclusion Programme (PFIP) announced the launch of a photo contest to inspire creative Pacific citizens to hone their camera skills and capture striking images that reflect the theme ‘Growing Financial Inclusion’.
The contest is open to amateur and professional photographers from countries where PFIP programmes operate: Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu. The contest provides the public an opportunity to communicate visually and relate their experiences regarding the economic, developmental, and technological challenges facing their countries. The contest intends to build awareness and understanding of financial inclusion for various sectors of the community.
Mark Flaming, PFIP’s Manager stated “PFIP works in the area of financial inclusion in the Pacific because we firmly believe that access to appropriate financial services is a first step for low-income and disadvantaged groups to improve their quality of life. This photo contest is an excellent opportunity for us to better understand the human connection of what Pacific Islanders feel is important on the topic of financial inclusion in an increasingly interconnected world. We encourage people to engage with the theme and interpret it creatively.
Without access to safe and affordable financial services that meet their daily needs, many low-income households in the Pacific have difficulty managing their money and making investments. Effective tools for saving, sending, and borrowing money and mitigating financial risks can help people weather setbacks and achieve greater financial stability over the long term.
By entering the competition, photographers have the opportunity to win great cash prizes and the privilege of gaining exposure for their photos by being featured on PFIP’s website and communications material.
Those interested in entering can visit PFIP’s website to register: www.pfip.org/newsroom/pfip-photo-contest/
The Contest opens on Saturday 21st January 2017 and closes on 28th February 2017. Winners will be announced on 15th March 2017.
