The forum’s theme this year is “Navigating the Cycle: Creating Opportunities in Challenging Times” and will run between May 14 and 16.
Fierravanti-Wells will use the visit to launch the Choice Wantok program in partnership with Westpac, to increase access to banking services in the PNG highlands using a range of digital solutions.
“Access to improved financial services is key to providing more inclusive economic growth and an important part of our partnership with PNG,” she said.
“I will also meet with PNG women leaders who have participated in programs through the Pacific Leadership and Governance Precinct. These women play an important role in contributing to economic growth in PNG.
“The empowerment of women and girls is one of the most effective ways to achieve higher economic growth and better living standards.”
Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Steven Ciobo will be delivering one of three keynote addresses scheduled this morning, along with PNG’s Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and president of the PNG Business Council David Toua.
