The Central Bank of the Solomon Islands (CBSI) and PFIP facilitated a training program for the Government to Person (G2P) field study. The ten (10) enumerators will be visiting the provinces of Choiseul, Guadalcanal, Malaita, Temotu and Western to interview a cross section of civil servants to identify the key linkages between mobile and branchless banking and bulk payments.
The study is intended to provide information on opportunities to improve financial access to remotely posted Government employees and rural communities they serve in through the deployment of mobile and branchless banking. The study will help understand the challenges that civil servants and people in rural areas face in accessing their bank accounts including the time and costs involved.
The study will be completed by November 2014.
